Moving Grounds #1 – Public Dreams, Rituals and Prototypes

24.05.2019 | 12:00 - 18:00

What is an inspiring or encouraging public space for you? Is it a contradiction for space to be both safe and personal for the individual while also staying open to accommodating the needs of the many? There is a sense of inevitable, ongoing change in our lives and a need to process constant streams of information coming at us socially, politically, culturally and environmentally. Where can we be more inventive and creative in how we live together and how might an ideal urban experience touch upon this?

For the duration of two weeks we will address these questions collectively by overturning assumptions around social organisation and beginning to sense into future utopias.

This marks the starting point for our new format Moving Grounds – In the city we cross different worlds every day. We move at different heights and depths, always in relation to the surfaces surrounding us; the impression of urban space changes again and again.
On a journey of discovery, without constraints and experimentally, Moving Grounds, in the manner of a compressed, two-week process, invites us to look at the displacement of these fixed levels as a means for new prototypes of urban space. Dynamics through discussion, movement, experiments – by exploring the microcosm, interdisciplinary models and competencies are to be developed that can subsequently be applied in an overall societal, urban framework. In this way, complex themes that are prerequisites for urban development can be brought together.
